Fun Activities

We have had a bunch of fun lately and here are a few pictures. We played with bread dough one day. Porter was making chase giggle. Enjoy!

School

Abbie has started first grade. I can't believe it. We miss her so much during the day and are excited to pick her up every afternoon. She is a good girl and a good student. Here is a picture on her first day.

Catching up 8 - Aunt Laura & D.C.

So my slightly older sister came to visit me and brought her daughter. We had a ball and they days flew by so quickly. Now they seem as if they never happened. The kids still are asking when Aunt Laura is coming back and how much they miss her. Oh, how I wished we lived closer.

Catching up 7- Vacation

So for family vacation we decided to have a stay-cation. We painted a rocking chair, camped in the living room (it rained the day we were supposed to go camping), made a picnic table, went bowling, and had an overall great time.

Catching up 6- Makelle's Hair

So one day I was nursing Chase downstairs and Porter and Makelle were quietly playing upstairs. We had just had guests in town that had left the night before. I was thinking to myself how nice it was that the kids were playing so nicely together since I had my house to clean and a bunch of things to do. I put my baby down for a nap and went into the spare room were the kids were playing. They quickly ran out and then to outside. I started to take down the inflatable bed, when I saw something. It was a fair haired RAT! No, it was someones hair but there was no one attached the the head of hair that I found. I flew down the stairs and found my daughter with almost no hair on the back of her head.

I took her into our cosmotologist and she fixed it up. In the end it didn't look half bad. I proceeded to hide all the scissors in the house in a drawer that I cannot even see into even when I am standing on my tip toes. The next week Matt was home with the kids while I ran some errands. Porter and Makelle were once again upstairs playing quietly. Matt called up a few times asking what they were doing and Porter specifically said, "playing with my cars." When Matt decided he had better check he found that Makelle no longer had much hair on the front of her head. Porter got into more trouble for lying than for the hair cut.

I came home a few minutes after the incident and frantically called my hair dresser again. They said she could get us in a few hours later. As I was looking more closely though, I realized that my poor daughter who had taken two years to grow much hair at all now had really short cropped hair, and the only solution really was to just shave it all the same length. So a few tears later I called and canceled the appointment. Matt pulled out the hair trimmers and my daughter's head was shaved at 1 1/2 inches attachment length.

So, now she is back to having hair bows glued to her head. She tolerates them pretty well.

Catching up 5- Abbie's teeth

Abbie has started to lose her teeth. In a matter of a week, she lost 3. The fourth one is loose now. You can tell that this first tooth was kind of traumatic.

Catching up 4 - Friends

I had an old roommate come to visit with her kids this summer, mostly to see he husband who is doing training not to far from us. We learned a few things. First, six car seats do fit into the back of a mini van without breaking any laws. Second, kids always become good friends when it is about time to leave. Third, good friends, no matter how long it has been since the last visit, are still good friends.

Catching Up 3

While at home this summer my sister and I went through a bunch of our clothes we had worn when we were little. I fell in love with this "Little House on the Prairie" style dress and put Makelle in it.

Catching Up 2

Boredom. What does one do when her husband is on call and she is tired of cleaning an uncleanable (I know this isn't a word, but it fits) carpet. She rips it out, by herself. Luckily for me, there are beautiful hardwoods underneath so even if it takes awhile to re-carpet this room the floor will look decent and I can CLEAN it.

Catching up 1

Since my last post we have had much happen in our small family. First, Abbie has completed her first year of school. She loved her teacher and was a good student. The first pictures are some of her artwork, which she really enjoys and creates on a higher than kindergarten level.

Also, being room parent I was able to go to a special production of a poetry recital put on by Abbie's class. (It is a bonus to be the room parent)

On a side note, Abbie is the smallest in her class. You can kind of tell with this picture.
